Production
Mix and control your sound
The world of production is a fascinating place. I have been listening to the creation of music since I can remember and trying to understand why things sound the way they do.
Production is such a massive part of the music that it deserves its own place in the tapestry of music. Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ may not have been the record it is without the production mastery of Alan Parsons and his wealth of knowledge to bring all the music out in such a powerful, elegant and mystical way.
What fascinates me about music production is that every production is different, every producer has their own tools and set of ideas, from day to day even the same producer could have a different way of thinking how a piece of music could sound. You give the same song to an infinite number of producers and there will always be a different outcome.
Some may sound the same for the most part but the choices are endless and it’s that mystery from looking at a song from the beginning and imagining what it’s going to end up sounding like that is enthralling.
All you have to do is try your best to create what sound you have going on in your head. Trying to achieve this is all the fun of producing, you may run into new areas of unchartered territory which lead you to create something you didn’t even know you could do or existed.
I have been producing music for over 15 years and have released many records with various companies and artists including my own projects and my original band ‘Maschine’ via Inside Out Music (Sony).
